J. Michael Hansen

Associate Attorney

For over thirty years Mike has been a trial lawyer representing plaintiffs and defendants in both Federal and Utah State courts. Specializing in civil rights, personal injury, securities, contracts, employment discrimination, wrongful termination, environmental, and business litigation, Mike has a wide range of legal experience. 

 

Mike graduated magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi) from the University of Utah in 1974. He thereafter graduated from the University of Utah College of Law (now the S.J. Quinney College of Law) in 1979. Mike was admitted to the Utah State Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Utah in 1979, admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in 1980, and admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1984.

 

Highly respected by his peers, Mike has served as President of the Salt Lake County Bar Association (1988 – 1989), a Utah State Bar Commissioner (1989 – 1994), as a member of the Utah Judicial Conduct Commission (1991 – 1994), as the Utah State Bar’s representative on the Utah Judicial Council (1994 – 1996), and as a Trustee of the University of Utah College of Law Alumni Association (1993 – 1996). Mike has served as a Master of the Bench in the David K. Watkiss-Sutherland Inn II of the American Inns of Court since 1993. Mike has been rated by his fellow attorneys as “AV,” the highest rating given, in Martindale-Hubbell.
